Redefine your beauty by choosing the best hair color for your skin tone.
Hair color can change your perspective; it has the potential to change more than just your look; choosing the right hair color can change your attitude, your mood, and how you see yourself. There are so many things to consider when choosing the right hair color to make you feel and look beautiful by your standards, such as your skin tone, personality, and even your eye color can play a significant role in what hair color suits you best.
Let's also consider changing your hair color as it relates to the change in seasons. For example, we tend to choose darker shades in the winter months for a couple of reasons, one being the brisk cold hair causes hair to become dry and brittle, just as it does with our skin. Therefore hair is more susceptible to split and become damaged when lighteners and lifting agents penetrate the hair cuticle in the winter months. Staying away from lighters and hair coloring products with lightening agents in the winter months is suggested unless your stylist advises that it is safe to do so. Please note, there are additive treatments to counteract damage to the hair when coloring. However, in the spring and summer months, no holds bar with lighters and hair color lifting agents; anything goes, provided your hair is in a healthy state. Though I believe redefining your beauty by choosing the best hair color for your skin tone is a good thing, I recommend you refer to a professional colorist to determine if it is safe to color your hair in any season.
Color "411". Warm skin tones versus cool skin tones; warm skin tones are peachy, yellow, and golden tones. Cool skin tones have blue, red, and pink undertones, and neutral skin tones combine warm and cool skin tones. So how can you tell what your undertones are, you ask? Well, I've learned along the way in my career, to determine what hair colors are best for your skin tone, take a look at your veins on the inside of your wrist. Do they appear more blue or green? If your veins appear bluer, you're cool-toned, but if you see more green, you're warm-toned. So the most straightforward answer I can give when choosing the right hair color for your skin tone is warm skin tones, warm colors, cool skin tones, cool colors. Warm toners/colors include reds, auburn, gold, bronze, and honey. The cooler toners/colors include blue, green, and violet, so as it relates to hair coloring, the cooler colors would be in the ash, blonde, and platinum family. This practice works for lighter skin beauties but how can our beautiful darker skin women determine the best hair color for their skin tone if they cannot determine the color of their veins? In my experience, the best practice for every beauty, no matter the skin tone, is to try on a wig (before the pandemic) or wear clip-ins in the desired hair color and see what works best for you. Simple right? Redefining your beauty by choosing the best hair color for your skin tone is as easy as trying on a wig or clip-ins, and by doing this, you can discover two things, one, if you like the hair color against your skin tone, and secondly, you don't have to run the risk of wasting time and money if you find the desired color doesn't suit your skin tone or your personality. A seasoned hairstylist or colorist will know what works best for your skin tone; however, reassurance never hurts, especially if it is your first time redefining your beauty by choosing the best hair color for you.
Bold reds, blue, green, pink, would you wear these colors as your base color (no mixtures of any other colors to change the color tone of the base color)? How daring are you? Is your personality bold and daring? Or, is your personality more subtle and unadventurous? Of course, only you can decide, but color, however bold or subtle it is, redefining your beauty by choosing the best hair color for your skin tone is a fantastic option when you're ready for a change.
